Saint Celestine has been a big part of my journey, and Iโve loved every opportunity to give back and make a difference through technology. Over the summers, I worked on improving the schoolโs tech systemsโespecially last summer, when I upgraded the RAM and storage of staff computers so they could support Windows 11. Through these upgrades and other tech improvements, I was able to save the school over $20,000, ensuring they could maximize their resources while staying up-to-date with modern technology. Knowing my work directly helped the teachers and staff work more efficiently was a very fulfilling experience.
One of my favorite memories is when I introduced students to drones through a hands-on presentation. I explained the mechanics of drones, and their applications in industries like photography and delivery, and even gave live demonstrations. Seeing their curiosity spark as they asked questions and imagined possibilities was incredibly rewarding. It was exciting to show how this technology is shaping the future and to inspire students to think about how they could use it themselves one day.
At the Saint Celestine Tech Fair, I led a presentation on computer systems, diving into the fundamentals of hardware, software, and their real-world applications. I worked to break down complex tech concepts into simple, relatable terms, making it easier for students and parents alike to engage and understand. It was a chance to bridge the gap between everyday users and the inner workings of the technology they use, and seeing others walk away with a clearer understanding was a proud moment for me.
I also took on a leadership role at the Saint James School digital citizenship conference, where I guided students in learning how to be smart, safe, and responsible in the online world. I covered topics like managing their digital footprint, recognizing cyber threats, and practicing kindness online. It felt great to empower them with tools and knowledge that could positively impact their lives both in school and beyond, leaving them better prepared for the challenges of the digital age.
Whether itโs working behind the scenes on computer systems or stepping in front of a group to share my knowledge, my time at Saint Celestine has been about more than just techโitโs been about making a real impact on a community that means so much to me.
